The term backloading generally means to share the space on a truck with other customers. This is the same as how Airline companies operate. If you take all the seats on the plane it would be very expensive though if you occupy two seats on the plane you get a fair price.

Rather than move a few items in the entire truck and pay a hefty price, we combine all customers together, therefore spreading the cost based on the amount and the space they take in the truck.

Example:

Sole use of the truck equals 100%

Shared use of the truck may be:

Customer 1. uses 10%

Customer 2. uses 35%

Customer 3. uses 50%

Customer 4. uses 5%

As a result, you can see the entire truck would be occupied, however you would only pay for the portion you utilise. This is called “backloading”.
